I was reading about how state actors are again leveraging USB ports to spread malware

When someone pointed out to me that there exists USB condoms!! I have to admit life never ceases to amaze me. Just when I think I have seen it all…..

I think though I will stick to charging through power adapters

Yeah I never charge through USB typically always a plug. Amazing how they find ways to exploit anything.

Absolutely, powerbank is the another option.

Public WiFi is risky too.

Indeed.

I do have a USB charge-only adaptor that I use when traveling and no option to use a normal outlet to plug my phone / iPad to charge.

nowadays is very common to see USB chargers all around, tons of people using those without thinking in the consequences….

Always safe!
Use your charger and if you don't trust the place, better run out of battery or charge something with your laptop as “last resort”.

cheers!

In Windows, you will have to set the network profile type to Public to prevent device discovery on the network and therefore not susceptible to compromise.
