In previous posts, I’ve reviewed a few solutions that are possible when you use Veeam’s REST APIs. A common bit of feedback I hear is that while using the REST API looks interesting, it takes time to learn, and that barrier to entry makes it challenging to even get started. Let’s change that!
This morning I’ve pushed an update to the veeam-postman repo on VeeamHub to bring it fully up to speed with the latest releases of Veeam Backup & Replication v12 and Postman. If you haven’t used Postman before, check it out on their website at https://www.postman.com/. It’s a free download, and there are paid options for those who want to build and use APIs on their teams.
Inside the veeam-postman repo is a folder for Veeam Backup & Replication, located here: https://github.com/VeeamHub/veeam-postman/tree/master/postman_for_veeam_backup_and_replication
This is where you can find the latest instructions for how to get up and running with Postman to use VBR’s REST API. It’s a really simple, dare I say fun way to get started with REST APIs and what’s possible to build with them. It adds a new dimension to the Veeam Data Platform that I think you’ll enjoy exploring.
Give it a shot and tell us what you think. As always, we’re listening for any issues you may encounter and feature requests you have, so if you have an idea to make this project better and you want to contribute, please file an issue or send a pull request with your changes.
