Happy Friday Community!
Yesterday afternoon we held our first VUGKC event of the year in the northland of Kansas City at T-Shotz golf/driving range. I want to give a huge shoutout to the Scality team for sponsoring the event and the ease of which to be able to communicate with them throughout the preparation process for the event. If any VUG Leaders are looking for their next event sponsor, I highly recommend reaching out to Charlie Collins, Channel Manager, Scality; and Jenn Rothschiller, Channel & Field Marketing Manager, Scality. They are great to work with! And kudos to Scality’s Field CTO Candida Valois who gave their presentation. Very well done!

We started with some food and drinks, then got the event underway, starting with Candida talking about Scality’s amazing storage solution and how to integrate/use it with Veeam:

After Candida presented, I talked about the new System Requirements and Feature Deprecations Veeam CPO Anton Gostev posted on the Forums several weeks ago:

As seen in the above shot, I also talked about Veeam Security features and why orgs may not have them implemented. Tackling security in your backup and org-wide environment should be done as a layered approach, not a single “one-size-fits-all” solution. This in and of itself is part of deterrent strategy in thwarting bad actors from compromising your environment. During my talk, we had a good discussion on these features with both attendees and the Scality team.
After the presentations, we went outside to enjoy the amazing weather we had → sunny ☀️ , 80°F/25°C 😎 , and hit some golf balls 🏌🏻♂️

Though overall I thought it was a great event, I’d still like to have better attendance. I’ll continue working with my local Veeam Reps and the Veeam Product Strategry Team to help in this area.
To the area Kansas Citians or surrounding area, be on the lookout for our next event in the Fall!
Reach out if your interested in attending, presenting, helping leading, or sponsoring.
Best.
