Veeam and Backup solution implementation

Hello Everyone,My name is Khadar, and I am from India. I have been working as a Storage and Backup Administrator for the past 4 years.I have received a requirement from a customer to onboard 4 Virtual Machines and 1 Microsoft SQL Server into the Veeam Backup & Replication solution.Note: I am very new to this backup tool or solution.I would appreciate your guidance regarding the complete implementation approach, specifically on the following points:	Licensing Requirements	Which Veeam license should be purchased for this environment?		How many licenses will be required for 4 VMs and 1 SQL Server?		Would Veeam Universal License (VUL) be the recommended option?			Backup Storage Sizing	How should I calculate the backup repository storage requirement?		What information is needed to estimate the backup storage size accurately?		Are there any best practices for retention, compression, and growth planning?			Implementation Details	Recommended architecture for Veeam Backup & Replication.		Prerequisites for onboarding VMs and SQL Server.		Configuration steps for application-aware backups and SQL Server backups.		Suggested backup schedules and retention policies. Hi ​@Khadar Basha Syed- Welcome to the Community!What you ask is really daunting. We can guide you when you have questions, but can’t really provide explicit “how-to” instructions. Implementing Veeam is somewhat simplistic, but it also has several layers you must know about to know how or why you configure certain components and features a certain way. My recommendation is to set up a small lab if you’re able; install Veeam and go through the User Guide (below) to configure compoents and test a small sample of VMs with.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/overview.html?ver=13Then...if you have specific questions about a feature or function or wanting a configuration suggestion...we can try to assist.The Veeam Best Practice Guide is also a really good secondary documentation source to reference:https://bp.veeam.com/vbr/Let me try and answer some of your easy questions though…Licensing - Veeam “Free” version allows 10 “instances” to backup. Basically, this means 10 VMs, or a combination of VMs and physical devices (the User Guideexplains this in more detail). So theoretically, you don’t needa license for your needs. That being said, depending on a feature or function needed to meet your customer requirements, a license may be needed. Foundation Edition, or Veeam Essentials sounds like a good start for your customer’s needs.To size your small environment, Veeam engineers have created a sizing tool to help you determine compute and storage requirements for a given Backup environment implementation.
