We are setting up a backup environment for a VMware Cloud Director multitenant setup using Veeam Backup & Replication. Our goal is to enable each tenant (department) to independently manage their own backup and restoration processes.

Based on the necessary components listed below:

  • Veeam Backup & Replication
  • Veeam Enterprise Manager
  • Veeam Backup for VMware Cloud Director
  • Veeam Cloud Connect (for BaaS/DRaaS)
  • Veeam Self-Service Backup Portal for VMware Cloud Director

We would like to clarify some questions regarding the most suitable licensing model for our environment:

  1. Which licensing model would be best suited for a multitenant environment that requires backup segregation between different departments, considering the mentioned components?

  2. Is there a specific licensing recommendation for environments with multiple tenants where each tenant has the ability to manage their own backups?

  3. What would be the cost-benefit comparison between CPU-based, instance-based, or capacity-based (in GB) licensing? Which of these models would you recommend for our infrastructure?

Thank you in advance for your assistance, and we look forward to your guidance.
