Another Wednesday Community VMCE Practice Question...and again from @Michael Funke . Thanks again Michael! 😊

For those new to the VMCE page, please hide your comment (guess). To do so → before typing your response, click the ellipsis (3 dots) icon on the far right of the format toolbar at the top in your comment box and select the Spoiler option. This will place a ‘hide comment’ text box in your comment box area. Click inside this hide comment text box and start typing your answer (guess). Be careful to not click outside of the box or your comment will show after saving. We want your comment to not show after clicking the Send button so others can take full advantage of these practice questions. Also, please no need to do a ‘quote’ comment of this question; I would like to keep these practice questions neat. Let me know if you have issues. Good luck on the question!

You are a “home-labber” and computer user who heard about a great backup product from Veeam to backup your home computers. Your initial purpose is to test this backup product for your main laptop, so you choose to download the free version of Veeam Agent for Windows. After you install the product and create your recovery media, you go through the “create job” wizard and reach the backup destination step. Which storage target options are available at this step?

  1. Veeam Cloud Connect repository
  2. A removable storage device attached to the computer
  3. Object storage options
  4. A local storage location on the computer, which is also selected in the VAW backup job scope

Good Friday morning everyone...below is the answer to this week’s VMCE practice question…

This question is simply a matter of knowing target storage components suppored in VAW, and more specifically as stated in the question...valid with the free VAW Edition (very important). Also, I think this question is also a bit confusing. After reading through it a bit better, it appears there are TWO correct answers from the choices, so apologies for the vagueness of this question..but overall is still pretty good.

Let’s go through each of the mentioned options to ‘test’ their correctness → a. VCC Repos are not a valid destination for the Free Edition so a. isn’t correct; b. “some” connected storage to the computer you’re backing up is a valid destination, so b. is a correct choice; c. though Object Storage is a valid destination option, like VCC Repos it is not valid with the Free Edition; d. when you attempt to use ‘some storage’ on the system you’re backing up, but also include this destination in the backup scope (list of directories, volumes, etc wanting to backup), VAW automatically ignores this storage from the backup, but it still can be used as a valid destination, so d. is also correct. To summarize, options b. A removable storage device attached to the computer and d. A local storage location on the computer, which is also selected in the VAW backup job scope are the correct choices.

This question was a bit hard to answer if we don’t pay closer attention. :-)

Hi @Airless -

Please edit your response so your guess is hidden. You have the Spoiler box in your comment, but your actual comment is outside of this box. Just cut & paste it in. Let me know if you have issues.

As far as your guess...you can review my comment for the answer 🙂

Thanks!
