Hey Community. Another week of Community-provided VMCE Practice questions, and again by @Michael Funke . Thanks again Michael! Last wk is the last wk of practice questions I have, so if anyone would like to provide one (or a few 😉 ), DM me your question with an explanation of why 1 or more answers are correct, why other options are not, and a link to source providing the answer. Otherwise, I’ll probably be taking a rest of the year respite from questions. It’s been a pretty good run.

Ok, now to this week’s question. For those new to the VMCE page, please hide your comment (guess). To do so → before typing your response, click the ellipsis (3 dots) icon on the far right of the format toolbar at the top in your comment box and select the Spoiler option. This will place a ‘hide comment’ text box in your comment box area. Click inside this hide comment text box and start typing your answer (guess). Be careful to not click outside of the box or your comment will show after saving. We want your comment to not show after clicking the Send button so others can take full advantage of these practice questions. Also, please no need to do a ‘quote’ comment of this question; I would like to keep these practice questions neat. Let me know if you have issues. Good luck on the question!

Your security consultancy firm as a high security data center in which you have a few physical Linux computers you’re wanting to backup. You choose to install Veeam Agent for Linux, but a caveat is the Linux systems do not have a connection to the internet. How can you successfully install Veeam Agent for Linux on your Linux computers?

  1. Install the Veeam Agent for Linux in Offline Mode
  2. Veeam Agent for Linux installation is not possible for computers in such a highly secure environment
  3. Purchase a server with pre-installed Veeam software
  4. Connect to the online Veeam Software Repository and run the required command for your Linux distribution

Install the Veeam Agent for Linux in Offline Mode

But you still need to

On a computer that is connected to the internet, download Veeam Agent packages intended for your Linux distribution from the Veeam software repository.

Good Friday to you all. Below is the answer to this week’s VMCE practice question…

Again, as with the previous few questions, getting this question correct is simply knowing about the functionality of VAL. There is 1 correct answer and the rest are all “distractors” of some sort. Let’s go through the listed options: b. is simply not correct so one of the remaining 3 are possible answers; c. as of v12, Veeam doesn’t have this possibility, but in the next release (v13), this will be an option. But an option to only have VAL installed is not, so this is incorrect; d. this option requires connection to the Internet, which is against the environment requirements/constraints (no Internet), so this is not correct. That leaves a. Install the Veeam Agent for Linux in Offline Mode as the correct answer.
