Good morning Community! Here is this week’s VTT question. Good luck!

A file on a Windows Server 2016 hosted on a Hyper-V server 2016 is corrupted and must be restored.  For some reason, the Veeam mount server cannot connect to the VM through the network.  Which of the following restore methods provides the best possible RTO?

  1. Run Veeam Extract Utility and use “copy to” to download the file locally in a shared folder
  2. It is impossible to restore the file on the VM if the mount server cannot reach it through the network
  3. Start an Instant VM Recovery session and login to the restored image to copy/paste the file to restore
  4. Run the Veeam file restore wizard and let it restore through PowerShell Direct

Okay I found it : https://bp.veeam.com/vbr/Support/S_Hyper-V/guestinteraction.html 🤐

So it’s only for Hyper-V environments

  1. Run the Veeam file restore wizard and let it restore through PowerShell Direct

Ok, the answer to this week’s VTT question is below…

Show content

The 2 key parts of this question are a “restore” is needed and “the Mount Server cannot connect to the VM via the network”. Keep in mind, some of the options listed are possible, but the other part of the question which is important.. best possible RTO ..is required here too. As such, the answer to this question is d. Run the Veeam file restore wizard and let it restore through PowerShell Direct
