Question April 17 Design Problem

You are an architect designing a Veeam 3 2 1 backup solution. You want to leverage Object Storage for offsite.

You also have a requirement for long term storage. You decide to setup a local scaleout repository with a capacity tier hosted at Wasabi and leverage copy mode. Additionally you want to add in AWS glacier as the archive tier.

What is the problem with this design?

The problem is that in order to use AWS Glacier for Archive Tier you also need to use AWS for Capacity Tier as you are not able to mix different vendors. 😉

That’s was exactly what I was thinking 🤔

As the others have said, mixing AWS archive with non-AWS object storage! If I was committed to using wasabi and AWS I’d look at a backup copy job to AWS S3 that hits glacier ASAP
