Multiple backup jobs for a particular Windows endpoint

I have one Windows physical endpoint which has the Veeam agent installed, and a backup is taken to the BackipRepository1 every few hours. I also need to take a backup of that machine once a week (midnight on Saturday) and retain 52 copies, but those backups need to go to BackupRepository2.

I have tried to create the second job but get the following message.

  • Skipping WINWORK0256548; workstation is already assigned to the backup policy Workstation1
  • Nothing to process.
  • Failed to apply backup job configuration at date and time

Is there a way for me to have two different backup jobs for a single endpoint like this, please?

License is Veeam Backup & Replication Enterprise Plus. There is a dedicated Windows Server 2022 host for Veeam. It is configured to back up 6 Windows Server VMs and about 10 physical endpoints. This particular endpoint needs to have a particular data retention backup (to BackupRepository2) in addition to the rolling backups (to BackupRepository1).

So then if you are managing it from VBR then you can set up the main job to Repo1 and then a Backup Copy with GFS retention to Repo2 with the required restore points you need.

What license type do you have installed on the Agent?  If it is Workstation then you can only have 1 job but if you have the Server license you can have multiple.  See here - (1) Veeam Agent Windows / Workstation Edition / multiple jobs to regular backup targets

The other option is managing it via a VBR server and then you can set up a Backup Copy Job to the secondary repo.

I get the same words of @Chris.Childerhose to recommend you to do this backup through a Veeam Backup & Replication server with a backup job to repo1 and another backup copy job to repo2.

Great, I see that option in “secondary jobs” and I see how to do this now. Thank you all for pointing that out.
