Question

Overview of needed capacity

Hi David, all,

just wanted to ask if we could maybe edit the overview of repository usage on the calculators page.
Now when we make a calculation and we select to make use of the “capacity tier” we only show the required storage for the performance tier in the overview on the right of the screen.
If you want to know what the usage is on the capacity tier then you have to click on details.

to make it a bit more easy from a sizing perspective with an single overview and less clicks to perform, could we just also show the capacity/archive tier in that overview?

Hi,

Here’s the old calculator that has a scale-out option, maybe you can check that out:

Veeam backup capacity calculator

With the new calculator you can click on “Details” (lower right corner) to see more details regarding the chains.

With way more options you could also use the szenario builder to try to apply your workload / scenario to:

Scenario Builder - Scenario Builder

Hope that helps!

Lukas

i know we can click on details but if i have 7, 8 or even more calculations that involve capacity tier/archive tier i dont want to click on details everytime. Just need it in the simple overview to make life much easier.

This actually would be a nice enhancement to have the details readily available.  +1

Hi,

The old calculators are not maintained any longer. Anything NOT at veeam.com/calculators is considered deprecated with outdated math. Please use at your own risk.

As for the feature request, I will certainly write it in our tracker to discuss. I can see some benefit. I also see the reason we hid it to begin with was to try and keep things more simplified. Once you start getting into SOBR COPY/MOVE, things are not so simplified and extra details are required which is why they are behind the ‘details’ button.

As Lukas mentioned, the scenario builder does have this all listed out nice and neat with no extra clicks. Each disk (or capacity/archive tier) is listed out per repository:

Give the scenario builder a try and let us know if that scratches the itch. Or if bringing those other storage details to the front is still something desired.

From the calculator, I miss the option to export to excel file, when you have differents DCR, YoY grow, forcast, backup window, you have to do one per workload, and copy and paste to excel file, will be interested to export the results.
But I really like it. easy to use
