Actually OS/2 Warp 4 was pretty hard core. I worked a bit on it in the 90’s and pretty rock solid. Novel Netware’s directory Service I liked quite a bit too for its time. Way ahead of MS AD which came later.

@BertrandFR ...stay tuned!..is all I’ll say ;)@regnor ...interestingly enough, my Win10 VM just auto-restarted 2 days ago to upgrade itself to a new build. I’m with you...can’t stay current with what MS rolls out. And, think each new one is pointless. I don’t like how Win Update changed the past few yrs not allowing us to choose what we think is needed (update-wise) for our own systems/apps. Eh well. I would even go as far and say I don't like anything about Windows Updates at all 🤣 Uncle Bill always knows best,, now hide that program data folder from the kids quick :)

Well done @Geoff Burke thats great news, in the interest of continuing this conversation, how did you find it? Well, I gave myself only a week and had planned to study more but.. job/life got in the way. I was hoping that the Veeam 2020 would help too. It was not super hard but as always tricky. The recurring theme is you have to get hands on practice. Anyways, I would normally not have rushed this but Kubernetes is so big and there is so much to learn that I wanted to get this out of the way to free up more time. This has been done so I am relieved :)

Veeam Certified Engineer 2021 Exam Released & Reviewed

@MicoolPaul just passed it too. Almost a disaster as my cat for some reason decided to enter the room and if that door opens bang.. auto fail. luckily I had jammed the door but he made scratching sounds which I worried the proctor would think was morse code or something!! Congratulations @Geoff Burke ! Hardly imaginable that a Veeam Legend would fail the exam because of a cat (Alfred!!). Kseniya would put in a good word for you! Yes I never thought of that!! ah the irony if it had happened :)

WEBSITE DEFACED THEN SAVED BY VEEAM KASTEN!!!

By the way that is Carlos the Cat who almost made me flunk my VMCE exam by trying to open the door whilethe exam was going on. As I understand it if the door opens during an online exam it does not matter who opens it, person, cat, dog, ghost.. you fail automatically!!! :)

Demystifying Veeam’s Backup Copy Feature – Part I, Intro, Requirements, Limitations

Great write up coolsport00. One thing that I have noticed with immediate mode is that if you don’t have the bandwidth necessary for the loads that you are trying to copy then all sorts of problems can spring up including even corrupted backup chains. I of course can’t claim with 100 percent certainty that the the corruption was not just a coincidence but nevertheless I have seen this a few times. The dilemma in my view is that periodic mode is much harder to explain to customers but allows more flexibility, immediate mode is closer to “legacy” thinking (this I realize is subjective assessment on my part) therefore need little explanation but comes with restrictions.

Veeam Community Recording - Kubernetes 101: Getting started in a cloud native world

Thanks it was a great review for me. The topic is big and so you find yourself Months later having to go back and re-digest. I have just had this with getting the proper RBAC permissions. Then there was secrets and config maps for pulling images from a private registry :). Kubernetes truly fits the “must learn and then must do” mantra of IT.

WEBSITE DEFACED THEN SAVED BY VEEAM KASTEN!!!

By the way the hack was nothing too special . I just copied a new index.html into the container on to it’s persistent storage overwriting the original index.html file. Now if someone got access to your console they could do a lot worse than that, but for example sake it was enough. kubeclt cp index.html nginx/geoffwebsite:/usr/share/nginx/html kubeclt cp sleeping.png nginx/geoffwebsite:/usr/share/nginx/html So the above command copies an index.html file (the defaced website page) and the image (sleeping.png), into the running nginx container, in my case this was on persistent storage which is located at /usr/share/nginx/html By default nginx will display the index.html file.

I love your decryption, @Nico Losschaert! @Geoff Burke, you can read Russian? WOW! Yup. I came to IT late, my University degree was Slavic Studies, Major in Russian language and Literature and a Minor in Polish. :) I think there are a lot of people who ended up in the IT industry but started in completely different areas :)
