VeeamON 2024 - Use Code "COMMUNITY10" for 10% Off!
Hello, it’s a good thing to a have a dedicated server for that purpose. You will need a licensed host if you are using vmware. I love the blog post from @Nico Losschaert Recap : Surebackup - what, why and how | Veeam Community Resource Hub I think the best pratices for surebackup always dependsof your company needs and how far you want to dig the subject. Do you need to verify your backup everyday? How far do you need to test it? Thx @BertrandFR for mentioning my post 😍
Hi @remus25 , I have the same issue.Created AD application, redirected URL is correct, is authorized in VBA, but sending mails is absolutely not possible, no matter which send address. How did you solve this? thx regardsNico
Hi @netw0rkn1nja : the setup is correct putting the Veeam in a workgroup - out of your production environment. This is recommended in smaller to medium environments, only in the large environments a seperate management domain is recommended when a lot of people must have access to the management environment. As other people already mentioned : permissions wil probably be the issue. Also checked the firewalls between? I don’t know if there is VLAN segmentation being active.
@imadam , I see that you are having a perpetual license for 6 CPU sockets. So you can use this license to backup VMs for a total of 6 CPU sockets for the hypervisors.Next to that Veeam gave in the past free instance licenses together with your socket license - this was the same number of the CPU sockets with a maximum of 6 instances. You are using those instance licenses now for the NAS backups : 1 license is 500GB, so you are know backing up 3TB (6x 500GB).You can’t expand this number because it was given for free.If you need to backup more than 3TB, you need to buy VUL licenses for 10 licenses because you can’t use those free licenses (instances) anymore. Then you can backup 5TB.
@MikeN : what I should do like mentioned before.Create a VM in EC2, install VBR but no real configuration. Turn the VM off.In case of a DR, just add the S3 bucket in the DR-VBR so you can restore the necessary.
Thx for sharing @Chris.Arceneaux , will test it soon!
Congrats to everyone being renewed and congrats to the new selected Legends. I’m very glad and honoured being in that amazing club from the beginning and still being a member! Thx again for this recognition @Madi.Cristil @safiya @NikolaPejkova and @Rick Vanover
Thx for sharing @safiya , it was really great with @Viperian and @WorkingHardInIT 😍.Thx all for the compliments!
Thx @Madi.Cristil for discussing on my post 😍!Thx @Luiz Eduardo Serrano and @MarkBoothman for the splendid comments on that!
thanks for sharing Nico. We often see this. What did you do with the previous and historical backup points? Had they enough space to start new chains? No probs @kristofpoppe. Luckily the customer had enough space to start new chains. With customer having not enough, we have to be creative 😉. Normally the way to do is deleting the oldest regular chain, afterwards again and again until everything of before is being erased. Not ideal, therefore being on its limits regarding available storage is not a good idea.
Nicely done @Iams3le . I often setup Synology devices, another suggestion is to use chap in the iSCSI target and also create the host (VBR) to make it more secure so only the allowed hosts can connect to the LUN using the created chap credentials.
