@JMeixner From Files menu all the drives of the server is visible. Jobs are copied to G drive, but the backup jobs are written to H drive of the same backup server. So I would say it is Veeam repository.Navigating to the backupfile: Is this correct:
@JMeixner Is Tape infrastructure the right menu? Both from Files and Tape infrastructure I get the same files which are now copied from VM to Physical server G drive. But from here I cannot map to the physical server to restore the files. Not sure where I am doing wrong.
@JMeixner I have copied the job from tape to disk (.vbk and .vib)What are the next steps to follow? Can I restore from here or do I need to copy?
ok thank for the quick response. Looking for a drive which has 397 GB space. Will proceed with restore soon. Sorry will probably ask few questions if I get stuck since this is the first time restoring files from tape.
Question again, with this process selected .vbk file in tape but cannot select the exact file name. Do I have to restore the entire content of the .vbk file in destination location? Do I also need .vib file? What would the next steps be. Looks like I still having issues how to restore files from tape.
@JMeixner so sorry I am still having trouble to find the location mentioned in the below linkCould not find the menu restore content. We are using Community Edition.
Do I copy .vib and .vbk job from H to G drive?
Thank you for your cooperation.
I am so sorry, I get the option to restore files from tape when selected .VBK and .vib files. Does not give me an option to copy files to disk? If possible can you please send a screenshot? This is the first time I am working on tape restore.
Can you please send link where I can perform restore of tape job to disk and then restore the files from disk.
This is how the jobs files look in tape.
Thanks for your response. Can we not restore files directly from tape in Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition?
Thank you so much for working with me, we have successfully restored the server.
Will the restored VM be offline after restore?
Restored VM will have its VMDK files in the new restored folder correct?
Thank you got it. Do I have to make any changes to the datastore name? They are reading what is in the existing server. Folder is renamed to restored suffix, is this correct?
Select Restore to a new location, or with different settings if you want to restore VMs to a different location and/or with different settings (such as VM location, network settings, format of restored virtual disks and so on). If this option is selected, the Full VM Restore wizard will include additional steps for customizing VMs settings.During restore to a new location, Veeam Backup & Replication creates new VMs. If you want to process the restored VMs, you must edit existing jobs or create new jobs to process the restored VMs. If you restore VMs with the same name and to the same folder as the original VMs, Veeam Backup & Replication deletes the original VMs. In this case, you must edit existing jobs to exclude original VMs from them. This step is confusing me, do I have to edit the job or create a new job if I am giving the folder a new name. Do you have a video that would help me to understand better if I am restoring to a new location.
Restore to new location was the restore mode, in the datastore menu it named the configuration files as New.vmdk, New_1.vmdk. Does this mean that it has created new datastore name and will not be overwritten on the existing VM. Can you please send me a link where it describes steps to restore VM to new location.
Thank you for all the responses. We have installed Veeeam Backup and Replicaton 10 on Windows server 2016. May be I can give access to Veeam B&R to the user from the server.
