1. Select an object that you want to restore:
• To restore a OneDrive for Business account, select the necessary account in the inventory pane.
• To restore a folder, select the necessary folder in the inventory pane.
• To restore a document, select a folder that contains the document in the inventory pane and select the document in the preview pane.
2. On the OneDrive/Folder/Document tab, click Restore OneDrive/Restore Folder/Restore Document and select one of the following options:
• Overwrite — to completely overwrite existing OneDrive data.

2. In the Application ID field, enter an identification number for the Azure AD application that you want to use for a restore. By default, Veeam Explorer for Microsoft OneDrive for Business populates this field with the identification number of the application that was used during a backup session. If you want to use another application, make sure to grant this application the required permissions.

Using Veeam Explorers
Our easy search and quick recovery capabilities are powered by special applications called Veeam Explorers. Individual explorers are available for Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams, enabling precise item-level recoveries specific to each application.
Each of these Explorers is tailor-made for the applications they serve, allowing you to achieve granular item-level recoveries and to save and export in file formats specific to the applications you are using.
To launch Veeam Explorers, you use the Explore option to reveal the following sections to review:
- Explore Backup Jobs: To open backups created by the selected backup job.
-
Exploring Single Organization: To open backups created by all backup jobs of a specific organization.
-
Exploring All Organizations: To open backups of all organizations.
-
Exploring Retrieved Data: To open backups that you have retrieved from backup copies located in backup repositories extended with Azure Blob Storage Archive access tier, Amazon S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval or Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive storage classes.
-
Exploring Backup Copies: To open backup copies stored in backup repositories extended with Azure Blob Storage, Amazon S3 Standard, Amazon S3 Standard-Infrequent Access, and Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval storage classes or Amazon S3 Compatible object storage.
Click through each tab to learn how Veeam Explorers aids the architecture with the following tasks and use cases:
- In-place and out-of-place restores: By default, these restores give you the capability to recover data to the original location. This is known as an in-place restore. Where required, the ability to perform restores to a different location is also supported. In this case, it will perform an out-of-place restore.
- Browse content: Once Microsoft 365 organization data (online and on-premises) is stored in a repository, the Veeam Explorer component reads these backup files to present the entire content in a hierarchical format. The built-in browsers offer a context-sensitive option for each object to send, restore, and export.
- Search for content: Veeam Explorer components include an “Advanced Find” capability to perform sophisticated eDiscovery searches by using different criteria based on data and metadata.
