Hello,

I’ve created a bootable USB Drive using the “Create Recovery Media” tool and wanted to test the bare metal recovery. But every time I boot from the USB stick a Windows Recovery screen appears saying the kernel is missing or contains errors.

And after searching for this issue I found this post which describes the exact problem I have: https://superuser.com/questions/1804131/windows-10-re-kernel-is-missing-or-contains-errors

PS: I’m using Veeam Agent for Microsft Windows to create the backups

This should help hopefully as this comes up a fair bit - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agentforwindows/userguide/recovery_media.html?ver=60

It tends to be version or something missing during ISO creation from Veeam Agent.

Thanks for the link but how is it supposed to solve my problem seeing as it doesn’t feauture any solutions for it?

It was meant as a way to troublshoot.  Possibly when the ISO was created one of the settings like injecting drivers, etc. from this step might help - Step 2. Specify Recovery Media Options - Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows Guide

What version of the Veeeam Windows Agent are you using as it could be a compatibility issue with that and Win10 version.

I’m using version 6.2.0.121 and already reinstalled it a few hours ago

As long as Windows 10 is a version listed on this page - System Requirements - Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows Guide then you should be good to use recovery.

Not sure what else to suggest here other than contacting Support at this point as the community is not Technical Support just members giving suggestions and trying to help.

Yeah my Windows version is listed there. I’ll contact support and thanks for your help

Not a problem.  These types of issues are hard to help with other than suggestions and simple questions.  Hopefully support helps out and let us know so we can mark an answer for this thread.
