Hi everyone,

Today VMware have announced the 7.0 U3 release for VMware vSphere and Update 3 for vSAN 7.

Announcing vSphere 7 Update 3 - VMware vSphere Blog

Announcing vSAN 7 Update 3 | VMware Virtual Blocks

Just to remind everyone that v11a is going to be the minimum required version for this as per the release notes:

VMware vSphere 7.0 U3 readiness based on the pre-release build. The official support will require full regression testing of the GA build when it becomes available. This article will be updated with a support statement afterwards.

This doesn’t mean that Veeam actively support this, once Veeam confirm compatibility we’ll know if v11a has full support or whether a later CU will be required to be in a supported state.

Thanks Michael.  I don’t believe the download links are ready just yet to get this release.

Yes, looks like only an announcement.

Yep I meant to change that to announced when I posted as I saw the download links were coming soon, whoops! 😩 will update this post when the downloads are available.

Let's hope that U3 will be a smooth release without any bigger bugs 😅

Don’t jinx it!

Somehow I am happy with announcement only - in first step. I guest we all know what happens with U2 - was released just too soon!

Veeam update in one day and VMware update in another.

So many things to us!

Hey @MicoolPaul - would that make sense to add all release notes / GA news links to your initial (first) post above?

On it 👍 thanks for reminding me this isn’t Twitter and I can do that!

Thx for sharing @MicoolPaul !

Thanks for keeping us up to date!

My vCenter suggests already updating to U3. I admit, I do not dare yet

So does Veeam now fully support ESXi 7.0 U3 since the GA is already live since 2 weeks? We are planning to upgrade our environment this thursday and the VMWare Admin has to decide if we already can plan with U3.

Veeam has to do complete testing after a ESX version goes GA. As far as I know V7U3 is not officially supported up to now.

And there is a severe bug in this version.

I would wait to update production to this version.

I loaded it in the lab in a test environment and it seems to work well without big surprises or bugs, today I also try Veeam’s backup and recover if it works.

But as @JMeixner said, I would wait to update production to this version.

After the problems we saw in U2 (and U1 when I remember right), I would really recommend to wait quite a long time before updating production host. And even than, update just a sub-set of them and monitor these hosts for a few days/weeks.
