Dear Community Members,

We are currently running Veeam Backup & Replication v12.3.2.4165 and considering an upgrade to v13.Our environment includes GCP workloads and a GCP appliance integrated with VBR. Will the GCP appliance remain fully compatible and function as expected after upgrading to v13?

Yes, of course.

Make sure to upgrade your GCP appliance as well, as we have released v7 together with Veeam Backup & Replication v13.0.1.

Hi @Mildur

Could you please confirm the correct upgrade sequence? Should the GCP appliance be upgraded first, or should we upgrade VBR before updating the appliance? I’m asking because during the last upgrade, we updated VBR first, and the appliance disconnected due to version incompatibility, which took considerable time to troubleshoot although backups were not interrupted.

Thank you!

You will need v13.0.1 for even being able to upgrade GCP to v7. V12 will not allow to upgrade to unsupported versions.

And the compatibility matrix is in our help center.

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbgc/guide/system_requirements.html?ver=7#version-compatibility

I strongly recommend to read the entire upgrade checklist in our help center, as your questions will be answered by it:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/upgrade_vbr_byb.html?ver=13#integration-with-veeam-backup-for-public-clouds

Unfortunately I can’t comment on your previous upgrade challenges.

But it must work, backup server first, appliances second.

Best,

Fabian
