I have a customer on Veeam v12 which backs up to Data domain. Veeam performs a copy job to another mtree, then the DD performs a DD replication to a central immutable DD.

Customer has space issues but we are seeing old veeam backup files still on the DD. We did a delete from disk for an old backup, but the file is still on the DD.

Any recommendations or seen this sort of behaviour?

I’m questioning whether Veeam is cleaning up old data. Backup copy retention is only 5 days.

Never seen this type of behavior personally as Veeam should clean up old restore points.  Just in case here is some documentation for DD.
