I have a clarification on veeam cloud connect terms. Is cloud connect the service provider ? why do you need cloud connect when we can backup and store workloads in cloud?

Cloud connect is an offering for primarily service providers, though an enterprise edition exists too. It is designed around service offerings where a provider may be supporting the infrastructure, monitoring via the VSPC, you can also do backups to a service provider, like you mention you could do this directly/in-house, you can also perform replication for DRaaS, which unless you’re using VMware in another datacenter, you’d have to try and leverage VMware Cloud or some private offerings which may be more effort etc.
Truthfully, yes anything you can achieve with cloud connect, you could achieve another way, but that’s not the point, it’s for 3rd party supported Veeam offerings. If your backups don’t work to a VCC provider, they’ll help, but can’t get object storage to work? It’s best efforts from vendor/provider. If their product is working and it’s just configuration, you’re on your own!
+16With cloud connect you can have a copy of your backups at a service provider. These copies are immutable and can have an insider protection enabled.
The service provider can assist you with your daily operations and you use his environment. You don’t have to bother with the setup of copy repositories, security and so on.

+8I think this has been pretty well answered, but VCC is a cloud service that is hosted by Veeam Partner’s generally as a landing zone for cloud data. For instance, we use Iland as our VCC vendor. You can also have cloud-hosted backups there - essentially partners can provide Backup as a Service, providing licensing, management, data hosting, etc. If you already have Veeam on premise, generally the only thing I would see you using VCC for is as a cloud target for copy jobs or even replication.
