Veeam Backup and Replication Major upgrade from v12.3.2.4165 to v13.0.1.1071

The error that I am getting is Outdated being agents, please upgrade or remove the following theme Agents from the production configuration. Shared-FS01 Veeam agent for windows 3.0.1.1039. And we got rid of that file share. But for some reason Veeam is still seeing it as a stale agent. I went back to the beam backup and replication console went to infrastructure physical. I found it an unmanaged, but it wouldn't allow me to delete it. So I tried creating a temp protection group. And the era I got was remote deployment and management is available for license agents only. Please change your backup service settings to allow manage agents to consume the license then perform a protection. Rescan. Then I went back to unmanaged and it disappeared.

Sorry, I know to this whole Veeam thing. I have been tasked with it and I have very little experience with Veeam. Thanks.

You may be better off to open a support case and have them help remove it from the DB. That would be the quickest way as you have tried from the console.  The only other way would be PowerShell maybe.

Hi @scyang2 -

Agree with Chris...Support is your best bet. You may be able to find something more detailed in the Veeam logs in the following folder:
C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup\Temp
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/logging.html?ver=13

But as it appears something may need modified in your config database, Support is your best route there.

Hi @scyang2

if agent is unmanaged please check on Windows server and unistall it.

Your attempt to insert it in a temp PG then delete it may be coorect to remove from Veeam database.

At the moment you continue to see the Windows server in the unmanaged server folder?

If no I think you solved this issue but uninstall agent from the GuestOS Windows.

As per Chris and Shane suggested, if issue is still present please open a case on the Support site.

This worked. I was able to add the Fileshare to a temp protection group and remove it from the configuration.

Hello Sean,

Thanks for letting us know. The setting that the message you got is referring to can be foun if you open the "Licensing" window from the main menu in Backup & Replication. At the bottom of the "Instances" tab, you will see the option to enable "Allow unlicensed agents to consume instances", as you'll see here -

Try checking that box and then go through the same steps you tried before, adding the unmanaged Agent to a Protection Group.
