Hi - wondered if someone could guide me on something which is probs a tad basic but once I know I will be all set !

I have an existing Enterprise VUL and a recent project has just purchased another 10 pack. What is the best approach here ? I guess this:

  1. Merge into 1 larger VUL count
  2. Reapply new license file from EM

Would that be correct please ?

Many thnaks

Phil

Yes that would be the correct approach to combine the license to one key.  You should have just extended the VUL key in the first place.

Awesome - thanks Chris.

So what should the procurement department ask Veeam for if business units require 10 packs here and there ? In other words how do we go about extending the VUL ?

Thanks

Phil

They technically should be able to add to the existing license and if the Auto-Update feature is turned on it will update the license automatically.  Not sure what they should ask for but if you can forecast and afford buying extra licenses it would also help future expansions.

Are both of the licenses coterminous (expire at the same time)?  I’ve not tried combining licenses that aren’t….might work - I’ve just never tried and I’m not sure what happens to the expiration if you try.  If they are not and you can’t, when rewewal time comes, have them cotermed together.  You’ll get two separate renewals and they for sure can be combined after that.

Hi @Airless this approach helps streamline your licensing and avoids complications from managing separate license files.

Steps to Merge & Reapply:

Log in to the Veeam Customer Portal.

Navigate to the Licenses section and use the option to merge licenses.

Download the updated license file once the merge is completed.

Apply the new license file to your Veeam Backup & Replication console via the Configuration tab under License.

Key Notes:

Ensure you comply with the license agreement terms for the combined licenses.

Confirm that the new license file reflects the correct total VUL count before applying it.

If needed, coordinate with Veeam Support to assist with any issues during the merging process.

if you have more questions and concerned please feel free to post here.

Many thanks @waqasali and to Chris.

I did exactly this and now Orchestrator is happy with the license. Interestingly, I though i would need to apply the license to the VBR and EM too, but weirdly, they both updated themselves from Orchestrator. Riddle me that !

Happy to hear you got everything sorted out with the licensing.  Always glad to help.
