I just saw this pop up in my feed https://www.veeam.com/company/press-release/veeam-to-acquire-securiti-ai.html

Trying to figure out where this fits in. I see a lot of companies jumping on AI in ways that are interesting/questionable.

Does anyone know what these folks do? Maybe some Veeam insiders 😁 like @jorge.delacruz can tell us more.

I'd love if someone can explain me what they do because I visited the website and couldn't understand a single word. 😅

Very interesting acquisition for sure and it will be interesting to see where this goes.  Maybe we get an update in Prague. 🤔

Not sure myself. Isn’t @anthonyspiteri79 messing with AI a lil bit? Maybe he can chime in?

Hello, I do not have many details myself about how it is going to look like. But perhaps some vision could be shared at our VeeamON Global Launch event - https://www.veeam.com/veeamon-global-launch

There are a few videos to consume to learn more:

Thank you!

Thanks Jorge!

Thanks, Jorge. Watching the video now.

Thanks @jorge.delacruz  for the info.   Maybe we will see more in Prague.  😉

Thanks Jorge! See you all in Prague. My big personal interest is in how all these systems are being kept secure. I see statements “safe ai” but have not seen or am just ignorant of what is being done. I know of one startup that is offering a capbac system (capacity based access control) whereby AI agents get scored after every task and depending on their performance are either given more capacity or less and if they go crazy then barred or even terminated. They have some big name investors which makes me wonder if this “security” problem is still not solved. Again have no expertise in this so just thoughts.

Securiti AI is recognized as a leader in Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), data access governance, AI security, and privacy. Its technology unifies data intelligence and security controls across public, private, and hybrid clouds, enabling enterprises to power safe, trusted AI at scale.

Maybe a new offer in Veeam Data Cloud?

I don’t want AI tied to my backup and recovery software.   How do we know they are not taking our IP through the backup and restore process.

I am thinking this might be more something that would be leveraged with SureBackup/Instantrecovery/stagerestore. It would fit the existing tech, and things like yara and malware scans, but would just add on a lot more functionality, like checking data classification, leaks, access rights etc.

So not necessarily doing backups/deleting things. I do see your point though. I don’t think if I was a beer drinker that I would want AI controlling my Beer fridge “Geoff you said you would not have one until after 6PM, so I will not unlock the fridge!!!”

@SCSIraidGURU - yeah...makes sense. Just know...Veeam already uses a “form” of AI in their backup console now. But it’s more a help/troubleshooting tool. Unknown what this new tech is about & how Veeam incorporates it into their product(s). I’m sure data sovereignty will come into play though.

By the sounds of it, seems we'll be (hopefully) getting briefed in PRG 😉...cuz I'm with you Christian. ha 😁

I’m really interested in some of these features. My only wish (or request) is that more AI companies would start offering on-prem deployment options even if it means a more limited feature set. Having the ability to run something locally, on our own infrastructure, would make it much easier to get approved given our policies.

Sure, maybe I’ll need a rack of GPUs at some point (want/need, you get it, lol🤣), but that’s still a much smoother path than relying entirely on cloud services.
