Veeam Vs 12.3.

I made an Surbackub Job with an Applicationgroup and:

1 DC in authoriative mode

1 Exchange Server 2019 Cu 14

No Internet Acces, No Proxy. Hyper V.

the VMs are running but Windows Firewall Service is DISABLED. I read about it, that Winodws FW make this because Veeam use isolated network. However how can I test serious with such environment?

I tried with PSH and Registry Keys to enable WFH Services to autmatic and yes  it changes, but when I wann start Service it comes error “no Device”

Set-NetFirewallProfile -Profile Domain,Public,Private -Enabled True

AND Reg Key

I wanna test Exchange CU 15 (SE) and prereq check fails beucase no control to FW serives (mpsvc or similair error). SureBackup is useless if this not working.

Thanks for any advices!

Did you unchecked the option "Automatically disable windows firewall” in the Application Group, like the image below?

By default this option is enabled, but you can uncheck.
Here the User Guide page about it: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/archive/backup/120/hyperv/appgroup_tests_hv.html

Just remember that your servers may not see themselves in a domain straight away and then flip their profiles to private or public.

If you set the roles correct (in the screenshot is the section “roles”) please allow more time for the machines to boot. I always recommend 900 seconds minimum (!) due to the fact that restored VMs during a Virtual Lab might always take longer to boot so try that, maybe to to even 1800 seconds just to test.

Maybe you can share a screenshot of your error messages or your settings so that we can give more specific advice.

Best

Hi Paul. Thanks! you are perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. I read in Forum that opion passed away and thought comes in next version again :-)

Now FW is active and all is fine.

Just remember that your servers may not see themselves in a domain straight away and then flip their profiles to private or public. - This caused me many issues when SureBackup was newer. Our work around was to add some of the rules to the public and private networks so the VM’s would get IP addresses and we were able to get them going.
