Hi everyone. I have a question: I want to upgrade from Veeam 12.3.2.4854 to Veeam 13.0.3.63. However, I have an immutable repository running on RHEL 10.2; as you know, the SSH port is disabled. Since the new version needs to be applied to the components on the immutable repository, is it necessary to enable port 22, or can the upgrade proceed even with that port disabled? I hope that makes sense.

Hi there, I do not use this repo tho, but according to the documentation „Bash shell and SSH are required to deploy the management agent (SSH connection is not required for updating Veeam components and can be disabled afterwards)“, you do not need to worry abt this. Hi, thanks for the reply. I was indeed reading the documentation, and it seems enabling it isn't necessary; I think I'll have to go to the server location and enable it if the update doesn't work with SSH disabled.

I m pretty sure I met the problem also with a custom hardened repository.

This is a different concern as discussed here: https://techdirectarchive.com/2026/01/14/upgrade-host-components-unable-to-reinstall-deploy-service-ssh/. The issue you described occured bc Veeam needed to reinstall the Deploy Service and requested the single-use SSH credentials. In this scenario, SSH obviously needed to be temporarily enabled to establish the connection and provide the credentials.
However, that is different from saying that SSH must be enabled for the component update itself. As Veeam's documentation states, SSH is required to deploy the management agent as I have mentioned already above, but an SSH connection is not required for updating Veeam components. I agree. Enabling SSH is usually necessary to “fix things” but it’s not required for a standard upgrade if everything works as it should.
