Hi,

Today I have another issue with a hardened repository

The VHR is in emergency mode with the message “cannot open access to the console - the root account is locked”

I followed the step from this document https://www.veeam.com/kb4663 but unfortunately the root account remains locked.

Any further advise?

Thanks

Use the Veeam Live ISO to reset it.  Follow this KB - KB4761: How to use Veeam Live OS ISO

Thanks it was somewhat helpful, but I could not resolve it. It looks like root account was locked and I could unlock it, file system is okay too, but the system still boots to the emergency mode and shows root account is locked.

Would suggest getting in touch with Support then to resolve this.  Is there data on the VHR?  You could always redeploy it, maybe selecting the reinstallation/repair option, where it keeps the storage for backups untouched.

Thanks - do you mean starting from the VHR ISO and repair is? What do you mean with the date? We installed VHR 1.0.17 and we still have the ISO available.

That is an old VHR installer, I would suggest upgrading.

Yes, start from the VHR ISO and repair if the option is available.  Not “date” - “data” - is there data on your repo server which you could afford to lose?  You could redo the server with the latest Veeam Infrastructure Appliance ISO to create a v13 VHR.

I would suggest getting in touch with support regardless, and they may even tell you to upgrade the VHR since v1 is the initial release and there was v2 then the VIA VHR.
