The Veeam is hosted on a vm running MS Server 2022.

Is your install alll in one or do you have proxies and repos deployed too?  If so try rebooting all servers including those.  If it stays that way you may need to get support to assist.

Also you could try updating Veeam if not already to 12.2 to see if that stops it.

Thanks Chris. We do have a proxi but I can’t restart it until Sunday.

Sounds good. Just something to try and fix the issue.  Hopefully it works.  😁

Are there any tasks active in vSphere? It could be a background task that's running on the VMware side and Veeam will be awaiting an update from that.

You can also check the logs created for the restore job. Maybe something interesting in there.
If all components are clear (no running tasks in repo / vbr / vsphere/hyperv) you should create a supportticket and upload your supportbundle + db.

Is the job showing “stopping” in the Home tab > Running Jobs in the B&R Console?

If so, try hitting the F5 key to refresh the running jobs and see if it clears.
