Exagrid Network Configuration

You should use the 10GB if you can.  Never used these appliances before but I know most have an “assignment” of traffic types to each NIC like MGMT for 1GB and DATA for 10GB.

Your 1Gb NICs should be used for mgmt only, & your 10Gb NICs for data. Connect your 10 Gigs to your storage network. Also, depending on the storage protocol you're using (iSCSI?), you should change your MTU to 9000 (Jumbo Frames). And make sure EVERY device in the storage path is using Jumbo Frames (switches, Repo, Repo NICs).

Also, what Transport Mode are you using & how is it set up? Your Proxies should be configured for Automatic or DirectStorage for fastest method. 

@coolsport00 Exagrid is a Dedup Appliance which has a native integration in veeam, Datamover is running on this machine. I think MTU 9000 is optional, but if you plan to do - do it everywhere.

regarding your initial question. Maybe the easiest way is simply to “move” the IP from 1GB to 10GB interface

Configure the two 10Gb NIC in your backup network, create a bond between them. Use this IP to connect your Exagrid to your Veeam.

The Backup checkbox is only necessary if you plan to use your Exagrid with another product than Veeam, in exemple create a SMB share.

Now the 1 GB ports could be used to create a management access or use to replicate Exagrid between them. 

Also I m surprise you don’t have an Exagrid Engineer to help you to configure it? Be carefull when you create the share on the Exagrid side to select Data Mover in the protocol

Unfortunately, I dont think our Exagrid tech knew the Veeam end of it and I have not found any solid How-To documents from Exagrid or Veeam on how to correctly configure an Exagrid. I just recently assumed veeam responsibilities and finding lots of things to fix :(

@TK515 -- this is an old blog from someone but when setting up the ExaGrid appliance networking there is apparently a checkbox called “Backup” and this is where the backup traffic gets processed on.

Pretty strange cause Veeam is one of the most used backup solution. Normaly you have pretty good documention if you open the Exagrid admin session and go to the helpcenter. You will find documentation dedicated to Veeam.
