Hi All,

Can Veeam B&R and Veeam Cloud Connect servers access the same Repository?

I am a service provider, and offer Cloud Backup Repositories to customers. To test backups for customers, i used to make a copy of the backup files to another drive on the server, import it on the Cloud Connect server, instant recover the VM, login via console and check, then stop publishing, remove from configuration and delete the copy of the files.

Now i see the “import” option is grayed out.

So i want to know if it is possible:

  1. to add the Repository to my Veeam B&R server,
  2. Import the backup of the VM i want to test,
  3. Test instant recovery,
  4. then remove from configuration DB on Veeam B&R only (not delete)
  5. remove the repository from the Veeam B&R server.

As this been done by anyone, is there another way to test, would this cause any problems?

Regards

Normally you do not use the same repo for two servers as one takes ownership.  With VCC you have separate repos and use those for testing.  We are a large MSP and have never had issues with testing restores for customers because the repos have copy jobs on them and are never accessed by more than one VBR.

I had same topic.

So for cloud connect i have created linux repository and for VBR NFS repository. So in this case you can use one hardware for 2 solutions.

To import backups from cloud connect repository, you can just copy backups to different folder and then create from it NFS repository for VBR, after rescan of repository, you can find it in import section of backups.

You cannot configure on VBR as linux “direct attached” repository as transport service will stop to work for cloud connect due certification mismatch. So NFS is the way ….
