Can't restore Ubuntu VM backup from hyper-v to Azure cloud

I am trying to restore Ubuntu VM to Azure but never got any success. We had issue with ver 12.3 where it never create helper appliance for the region so we upgraded to ver 13. It now try to create helper appliance but never complete succesfully. When restore process starts, it creates helper appliance in Azure with status running but never get pass that stage. 

Internet access is restricted to outbound access to windows update, azure & Veeam.

I even tried restoring the Azure environment where we have ipsec tunnel but not luck, still fail with same error.

Hi,

 

are you controlling access via a web proxy or firewalls? I suggest you either look at the web proxy logs or dropped/blocked firewall traffic as a starting point. Or you run a packet capture from the VBR server to understand which DNS records it is querying then failing to connect to

I used proxy which has unrestricted outbound access and still fails. I can restore windows backup without any issue to Azure.

I would still recommend a packet capture as a first step here.

 

Theres different ways to enforce a proxy which depending upon who the services are running as could mean a different network path for specific services.

Hi ​@AShaikh -

If what Michael suggests you try still results in no success, I recommend opening a Veeam Support case to look at your logs and get a more detailed view into your environment to see what specifically is going on. They should be able to get your sorted.

We had already opened support ticket for this but so far there is not fix. 

We even allowed unrestricted outbound access to troubleshoot, which restore ubuntu vm in Azure without even asking helper appliance and does not work.
