Hi,  We’ve just upgraded our Veeam Backup and Replication server to 12.3.1.1139.  All went very smoothly.  I also upgraded the Backup and Replication Console, on my pc, to the same version.

However, now my Veeam console will not log in to the Veeam Server. I get a message saying “Failed to connect Veeam Backup & Replication server: The logon attempt failed.”

On investigation, I found that this occurred when I was using the server name (as the field was auto-populated with this info from before the upgrade).  However, if I use the IP of the Veeam server, the console connects as expected.  I tested this using the full FQDN of the Veeam server, but still did not connect - it only seems to connect using the IP. This was not an issue prior to upgrading and is problem as we need to be able to connect via FQDN. All DNS entries are checked and accurate, nslookup finds no issues. Even under managed servers tab in Veeam the Backup Server is set using the FQDN so there is nothing to change or update. I want to also note removing the server and re-adding it to the domain is not a viable option for us unfortunately

Has anyone got any suggestions of how I can connect using server name or FQDN again?

Thanks.

Does the server show the computer name in the properties?  You can uninstall and reinstall pointing to the same DB to see if that works.

Hmm...if what Chris suggested doesn’t work, only other thing I can think of is the DNS port is being blocked by something on your computer. Have you ran netstat to see if this is true? Another suggestion to try is enter just the hostname and not FQDN. I’ve found an issue in the upcoming release beta where adding Veeam components works with either IP or hostname but not FQDN even tho...like you...my DNS is setup correctly.

There was a similar post created a few mos ago here on the Hub with the same issue. See if something in there helps you:

Other than those suggestions, I guess just give Support a call and see what they say.

Best.
