Azure Archive appliance low speed

Hello Community,

I successfully deployed SOBR ( Performance > Capacity > Archive). The archive tier is in Azure. For the archive tier, I am experiencing that the speed of moving backups from the archive to the capacity tier is 50MB/s. I selected a high-capacity VM in the VBR, specs are below however the speed does not exceed more than 50MB/s.
 

Size - Standard F8s v2
vCPUs - 8
RAM - 16 GiB


So I have a question for the community is 50MB/s is usual speed for Azure archive appliance? If not than what is your recommendation to increase the transfer speed.

If I use private endpoints,  will it assist in increasing the speed? I am currently communicating via public IP.

I don’t believe the speed is based on the appliance used, but rather data retrieval speeds from the Archive Tier is based on data egress speeds from Microsoft for its Archive storage tier. You would probably need a high priority subscription from MS to make it faster:

Also if you are pulling this down to local storage the connection you have to Azure will play a role as well that being the internet or Express Route VPN.

Hi @usman651 -

Ok...so you're moving data just within Azure?....from Blob to some other Azure storage? Though you're within Azure, you're still egressing from Blob then going into another Azure storage. I don't think the appliance has anything to do with speed of transfer within Azure. I think the speed you're seeing is the best MS provides...unless someone else chimes in with another reason you're getting the speed you are.
