VIX is a VMware processing option for VM backups. If you had the agent installed that would be used. Check this KB for troubleshooting - https://www.veeam.com/kb1788

So, if Veeam agent is not installed it can be result of this error?

No the agent has no bearing on this error. You need to check the connection to vCenter as well to ensure it is working or directly to the host depending how your environment is set up.
If you go to the Inventory tab and edit the vCenter and go through the wizard to see if that helps.
Hi @itmvs - is VMware Tools installed on your Linux VM? If not, you may get the error you’re seeing. Also, as Chris shared, try to see if you are able to connect to your vCenter Server in the Veeam Console Inventory node > Managed Servers, then rt-click on your vCenter Server > Properties and go through that wizard to verify you can connect. If your other Backups are running and are only having issues with just this Linux VM, then your vCenter connection is fine. The issue is with the VM. Check the VMware Tools first. For Linux, you can use “open vm tools”. You can install those pretty easily running one of the cmds listed in the VMW (Broadcom) docs, depending on your Linux distro:
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Tools/12.4.0/com.vmware.vsphere.vmwaretools.doc/GUID-C48E1F14-240D-4DD1-8D4C-25B6EBE4BB0F.html
If Tools is installed, you may just need to update them is all. Try those things and let us know if your error goes away.
