Hi,
Anyone can help with this error from a physical server backup?

“10:30:32    Calculating digests Error: Could not find file 'C:\Windows\TEMP\tmp171E.tmp'. Could not find file 'C:\Windows\TEMP\tmp171E.tmp'.  “

Hi, does the server have enough physical disk space for Windows VSS? And, presuming there’s antivirus on the server, have you included the relevant AV exclusions?

Hi, does the server have enough physical disk space for Windows VSS? And, presuming there’s antivirus on the server, have you included the relevant AV exclusions?

Can you please explain what you mean by enough disk space for Windows VSS?
Currently, more than 50% of the disks are free.

What are the relevant AV exclusions please?

Hi,

AV Exclusions: https://www.veeam.com/kb1999

VSS should have more than 10% free per disk 🙂

I’d test pausing your AV and seeing if you continue to get this temp file issue

I tested with AV paused, still same error.

Are you using the latest version of the Agent software? Are you able to try running a full backup to see if that works?

Yes the latest, full backup failed.

I might suggest contacting support at this point.

Hi, in my opinion this week error is due to a bad configuration of the Windows agent.

Probably from indexing to backup start that file was removed.

Windows\temp folder no need to get backupped.

You could try with the folder exclusion

Thanks for your contribution!
Our backup is full option, no need exclusion, and the other physical servers with same full backup are successfully backup without any issue, only this server has issue.

I opened a case about it, the support team is checking the logs and figuring out the root of the issue.

Did anyone solved the case?

  1. Veeam B&R 12.1.2.172, agent successfully installed to physical machine that I’m trying to backup.
  2. Physical machine is windows 2008 R2 and it’s a domain controller.

@Nourinux -- did you ever get an answer from Support that could help @silviu.oprescu ?

Hi @silviu.oprescu

I think you’re using the job in 'Volume level backup' mode.

HAve you some needs to specify one (or more) volumes instead “Entire computer” option?

There is an older article where with a good explanation how agent backup works. (https://www.veeam.com/blog/backup-modes-in-depth.html)

Using Volume backup server can be affected to some no critical issue, as VSS service stopped (check here https://www.veeam.com/kb2041) or disk management unexpected changes.

I repeat my previous thought if you want to continue to use Volume level backup:

Windows\temp folder no need to get backupped.

You could try with the folder exclusion
