Appreciate it’s late in the day but if anyone uses Shodan.io for web traffic info, today they’re doing a discount on their account membership, normally a paid account is $50 as a one off, today it’s $5, I use this to monitor up to 10 IP addresses for information on port access externally etc.
Ive always liked this as an impartial view, I used to have BT as my ISP years ago with their router, it’s a good router and as you have to pay for it, I chose to keep using it after I left BT, only to discover that the router has some remote management ports built in that are only protected from internet abuse by the ISP’s firewalling of the ports, so when I swapped ISP I had remote management out to the internet and I couldn’t disable this as it’s not a user configurable setting! I immediately ripped out the router for something else, but from that point on I never trusted the firewall to tell me EVERYTHING that can access my network, as it’s often only what you’ve configured that you can edit, with firewalls & routers layering their services on top.
