I was informed there is an API available but it isn’t public documented. Do you have any information about this that I can use to run some queries against the endpoint?

Yes, there is a Calculators API, but as you’ve mentioned it isn’t publicly documented (nor publicly supported/versioned/etc at the moment). As it is a small team of folks who maintain it explicitly for the use of the official calculators tool, it is subject to change at any moment and difficult to provide a support/documentation objective around. Any use of it outside of the official tool is ad-hoc and via individual reverse engineering. :)
