Question

Azure object storage requirement

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi! I have a customer with 35 TBs of source data in 90 Azure VMs - I added the screenshot with all of the inputs, however, the calculator says they need just 13.5 TBs in Azure Blob object storage, with 50% compression?

You have selected immutability (which is set to 14 day’s by default) but have only selected 5 daily backups? I believe this may be skewing your numbers. If you up the dailies to 14 this gives a more representative figure.

I would agree with @Chris.P on this by changing your daily backups to 14 to see if that fixes the numbers.  There is dedupe and compression with Veeam so needing less for backups is good.

I @MirceaD, yes, that does seem low. I think a regression in the API side was introduced while trying to improve the calculations. We’ll be fixing it tomorrow. Meanwhile, if you use the standard VM calculator the calculations should be more accurate for the capacity values for the time being until this gets fixed.

@Chris.P I tried with 14 days daily retention, but the requirement for it will be 16.8, so it’s still < than 50%, it’s still incorrect.

@david.tosoff  Thank you, I’ll use the standard VM calculator in the meantime!
