So it's been a few weeks after my return from yet another excellent Veeam100 Summit in Prague. This marks my 3rd visit to Prague, and I'm not getting tired of the city at all. On the contrary, I keep discovering new things to do and visit new places. This was no different this year.
First of all I must thank Rick Vanover, Madalina Cristil, Nikola Pejková, Safiya Mohamed, and everyone at Veeam for creating such a unique event. Nowhere else in the Industry do you have such access to Product Management and can ask questions and provide feedback. I have seen Veeam grow from somewhat of an underdog over 10 years ago to the market leader it is today, and this is still true today.
This summit was definitely focused on the release of version 13 (I think the biggest release yet, the amount of features is mindboggling) and Veeam's acquisition of Securiti AI. There is not much I can share on this, as it was made public very recent, and the purchase is ongoing.
As usual, I flew out of Washington/Dulles to Prague via Frankfurt. This all happened during the US Government shutdown, so I was a bit worried about lines at the airport; luckily, I had no issues leaving or returning to the States. As a matter of fact, my return flight from Frankfurt was only 1/3 full, I had plenty of room to stretch out.
After getting settled in on Sunday, I had organized an Underground Tour of Prague with a few friends. It was very interesting getting access to century old cellars, and our guide was pretty entertaining telling stories.
Monday was a bit more sightseeing in the morning. I learned you can get up on the Old Town Hall Tower, where the astronomical clock is; this was great, there is an elevator (only rode it down) and you have amazing views of Prague. There are many more towers you can climb, so I highly recommend checking it out here.
The day closed with the reception, which is always great to see people again you haven't met in person for over a year. You also get to meet new people as the group evolves, some leave and new once come in.
Tuesday was then in full swing with many sessions. Once again, you could choose between different tracks. As I'm one of the very few customers in the program, I was not very much interested in the Service Provider track, but there were plenty of sessions to choose from.
As I mentioned, v13 was a big topic this year. Here are some of the takeaways I'm able to share.

So many new features and improvements; VSA Appliance, HA, Universal CDP...
I also attended a Veeam SureBackup Workshop; if you ever talked to me at a conference, you will notice I'm a big proponent of SureBackup! While we had some technical difficulties in the lab setup, it was still a valuable session. I have some troubleshooting tips here:

I also attended some user session on AI and MCP. These were projects by Veeamers, but not an official Veeam product or endorsed by Veeam. It was quite impressive and definitely piqued my interest to look more into Agents and MCP servers. Michael Cade showed a pretty cool RVTools replacement he created with the help of AI. Lot's to take home with and put in the home lab/learn.
All in all, it was another excellent summit. Thanks again to Veeam for letting me participate in this, I truly appreciate it.
