Hi! I would like to share an additional aspect that I was able to experience during the Veeam 100 Summit in Berlin. In addition to Summit's fantastic agenda, already brilliantly described in posts by colleagues in the community (congrats,
I had the rare opportunity to visit symbols that marked my youth and have always fascinated me.
One of the things that impacted me the most during my adolescence was the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, which I watched on TV. This event celebrated its 35th anniversary six days ago (!).
The fall represented a symbolic victory for freedom and determination for the entire world, still caught in the Cold War. It is worth visiting the Berlin Wall Memorial, the Wall Museum near Checkpoint Charlie, and the DDR Museum.
As an engineer, I have always admired the incredible engineering behind the Boeing 747, a masterpiece developed in the 60s (!) without the aid of computers. Old-school engineers will always have my deep respect!"
I had the rare opportunity to travel to Berlin on this plane, listening to AC/DC on the aircraft's multimedia system! Lufthansa is still one of the few airlines that keeps the 747 in operation. It was a unique experience to be close to this air giant.
Another automotive and engineering masterpiece (yes, I´m a bit of a nerd ) I came across in Berlin was the iconic Lamborghini Countach, which I saw during a visit to Volkswagen's "Iconic" exhibition.
This car was created in the 1970s, marking a generation, and still has a design far ahead of its time. The exhibition features an interactive multimedia room, and there's nothing better than appreciating the Countach with David Bowie's 'Heroes' playing in the background .
I was impressed by the beauty of Berlin Cathedral, a symbol of resilience and persistence, reflected in its reconstruction. I took advantage of the peaceful environment and set aside time for reflection and gratitude. I also climbed the 270 steps to the dome to enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the city. The visit is worth it.
I visited the Neues Museum, which houses an impressive Egyptian collection. I also saw two of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century: the bust of Nefertiti and the Berlin Gold Hat. Wow!
Of course, I was also able to visit other historic sites in the city: the Brandenburg Gate, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews, the Reichstag Building, Madame Tussauds, the Berliner Fernsehturm, the Humboldt Forum, the Ephraim-Palais Museum, and others.
Thank you very much for the opportunity and trust, Veeam! I want to thank you very much for your attention and consideration
