As you already know, each month, we'll be highlighting a specific Veeam-related registry key to help you better manage and fine-tune your environment.

For our post this August, we're diving into a crucial registry setting that can help you avoid potential storage issues: SqlTempLogPath.

By default, Veeam chooses the local disk with the most free space to temporarily store SQL log backup files before they're moved to your backup repository. On busy SQL servers, this can quickly consume a lot of disk space. With the SqlTempLogPath registry key, you can manually specify a different location for these temporary files, giving you greater control over your storage.

To learn more about how this works and get a step-by-step guide on how to implement it, check out the full blog post here: https://integriservices.blogspot.com/2025/07/regkey-of-month-august.html

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this key and any other registry settings you'd like us to cover in the future!

This will be a very useful series.  😎

Thank you, Kristof.

Another useful key for those using SQL.  Not sure if that one applies to Postgres.  Great post again 👍

added to the list. Thanks Kristoff

That key can be a lifesaver. Wish I had known this in the past. Thanks Kristoff

This is such an amazing series of posts. I had no idea that it did this, or the fact you could modify it.

I’d add to anyone installing Veeam, SQL, or any other software, always have 2 disks in the system BEFORE running the installers, and the second disk larger than the OS disk.  I try to install the least amount of items as possible on the C:\ drive as it’s always easier to expand or control the behavior of others without worrying about what Windows or Linux is doing.

The other thing is if you fill that drive, you still have access to the server. If you fill the C:\ you can be in a pretty bad state sometimes.  This is a very helpful REG key and hopefully you have many more of these unique tips!
