It was a real pleasure to receive a copy of this new edition directly from the author, Chris Childerhose, who is joined this time by another well-known expert in the industry, Rick Vanover, Vice President of Product Strategy at Veeam.

As regular visitors of the Veeam Community Hub well know, where Chris is an incredibly active figure always ready to support users, his dedication and expertise are fully reflected on every page of this manual.

Although I haven't finished reading the book yet (I only have the last three chapters left) I can already say with confidence that it is an outstanding resource. From the first pages, the depth of the technical content, the practical approach, and the attention to detail clearly demonstrate the extensive experience of the authors.

This book is designed to support system administrators, IT professionals, and consultants in mastering the platform through a balanced combination of solid technical foundations and a hands-on approach. With a clear structure and a progressive learning path, readers are guided through the platform's features with practical examples, in-depth technical insights, and real-world recommendations drawn from field experience. Each chapter is designed not only to explain the underlying technology, but also to provide the practical guidance needed to design, implement, and manage backup and disaster recovery environments with confidence and efficiency.

I found the sections dedicated to the installation and configuration of the various components to be particularly valuable. The author goes beyond simply guiding the reader through the standard installation process, providing in-depth explanations on how to optimize the infrastructure from day one.

Among the aspects that impressed me the most are:

  • The explanation of the new Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) and the implementation of the JeOS (Just Enough Operating System) model clearly illustrate how to approach the new architectural design.
  • The coverage of High Availability (HA) and the use of the AI Agent is excellent, offering practical insights into configuring and managing these key features.
  • The strong focus on the Zero Trust model and secure Active Directory integration provides practical guidance for avoiding common design pitfalls and building more robust and resilient infrastructures.

If you're looking for a guide to modernize your infrastructure and make it even more resilient while taking advantage of the latest features, this book is an invaluable resource. It serves as a true reference for IT professionals and anyone working with Veeam technologies.

Highly recommended!

Thanks @Chris.Childerhose

@Chris.Childerhose - Amazon shipping and our import fees kills the price, I see there is no e-book on Amazon - I shared the Packt eBook link.
