Some kind of funny: A new kind of ransomware was found in India. It does not demand a ransom but donations like: new clothes to homeless, feed kids in branded pizza outlets and provide financial help to anyone who needs urgent medical attention but cannot afford it. If victims can proof good actions, they receive decryption kid.

Please don't misunderstand, I am still against cyber attacks like Ransomware, but at least the needy here have something out of it.

Wow that is definitely something different for sure. Interesting but still not good any ransomware.

Wow, and it is kind of gambling wether you receive the decryption key or not. Like with any other ransomware.

“Once all three activities are completed, the ransomware asks victims to write a note on social media (Facebook or Instagram) on "how you transformed yourself into a kind human being by becoming a victim of a ransomware called GoodWill."
Upon completing all three activities, the ransomware operators verify the media files shared by the victim and their posts on social media.
The actor will then share the complete decryption kit...”

So, IF the operator sees your post you will EVENTUALLY get the key...

fair enough. You eventually get the key if you pay ransom for other hackers as well😂

Yes, but a payment is easier to see than a random social media post… 😎

Plus what happens if they don’t monitor the social media posts or choose to ignore them. No way back, I suppose. Unless they had some backups in a hardened repository 😉
