Question

Veeam Replication between Hyper-V 2 Host within one site

Dear all,

In my environment, existing Dell R740  Hyper-V host is running with Productions VM and using file shares with Synology NAS. Now, we are planning to add another Dell R760XS and will install Hyper-V hosts and deploy Guest VM such as Veeam. My topology is as below. To replicates 2 host with Veeam is correct topology or not. Please help share your advices. Thanks.

If you want to replicate Veeam you just do configuration backup and can then restore when needed.  Is that what you want to do?

Nope, Sir. We would like to run replication jobs between Hyper-V Hosts with Veeam. Is this possible and kindly share with your experiences.

what is your main objective of the replication? are you looking to migrate the VMs between the nodes ?

We just want to think about of one hyper-v down case. If Primary Host down, the secondary Host to be ready to run operation with Veeam.

Yes you can replicate with Veeam between hosts. Read this over to get started - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/qsg_hyperv/vm_replication.html?ver=120

Why not do native Hyper-V replication? KISS. Do you have shared storage to do a failover cluster or no shared storage?

No shared storage Sir. To tell the truth, I have got handover this design from previous engineer. That's why i am trying to check it. Please help to share your opinion for possible design. Thanks.

Please do some reading and research as everyone's situation is different.  There will be varying opinions but the ultimate design is up to you.  But the Veeam help site and best practice site are full of information.  Also a quick Google search helps too.
