Question

Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure enable encryption on existing repository

Hi,

I’ve enabled encryption on repository which allready contain some backuped vm’s.

Does the data allready stored on that repository also will be encrypted or only new one ?

The restore points that are already in the repository will not be encrypted.

The new restore points generated after the encryption activation will be encrypted only.

If you enable encryption for an existing job, except the backup copy job, during the next job session Veeam Backup & Replication will automatically create a full backup file.

@cymon It’s not the B&R but Microsoft Azure Appliance. Encryption is setting up on repository not on backup job.

HI @IT.support

This may be of some help: Step 8. Configure Repositories - Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure Integration with Veeam Backup & Replication Guide

Basically, the ones that were backed up before enabling the encryption will not be encrypted.
