VeeamON 2024 - Use Code "COMMUNITY10" for 10% Off!
I want to do an end-to-end workshop video and guide on how to configure and set up the Veeam Hardened repository. Not everyone has the comfort in Linux to do this on their own or at least without help. What kind of things would you want covered? Some scope:I’m going to start with a server on the table, go from racking and stacking to data recovery Will focus on a physical server with a hardware management interface Will cover mostly the Linux steps, the B&R part is easy!Let me know what you would covered in here!
This topic is replaced by the V12 Upgrade Center: Doing something new! Here in the Veeam Community Hub I thought this would be a good place for a new piece of content that gives some practical information for the upgrade process for Veeam Backup & Replication V11. We wanted to put this together here to give each of you an additional way to start the upgrade process! Watch this quick video below for an overview: Now, let’s get into the specific bits that you need to upgrade to V11! We may add sections or clarify things based on feedback, so please leave a comment below and maybe come back to the news section here for updates!Pre-Installation SectionWe recommend you review these key pieces of documentation: The Release Notes should be the first thing you read (these are with the download). Then, I recommend a good read of the What’s New document. Help Center User Guide (VMware vSphere version). Help Center User Guide (Microsoft Hyper-V version). Veeam Backup & Replication V
I had a scenario in the lab where some partitions were not optimal for use but I wanted to keep the installation of Windows. In just 15 minutes, I was able to do a bare metal recovery with the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows and resize the partitions. This was best set with a video, enjoy!
FROM THE DESK OF RICKATRONI hope everyone enjoyed the VeeamON 2021 online event. Now the real work begins for us. How to we incorporate a real event with the online experience. Tell us the experience you want!
I want to draw your attention to a recent piece of news about the Veeam Innovation Awards (VIA).This is a really important thing to Veeam, and I recommend you read JBuff’s post: https://www.veeam.com/blog/innovation-awards-2021-nominations.html The important of innovation is rather attractive as it closes the gap between the art of the possible and the stark realities of the criticality of data that Veeam protects. Whether you are a Veeam customer or a Veeam partner you can nominate for the VIA’s and raise the profile of Innovation in your view. I’d really encourage you to think about nominations, this isn’t just a news effort, its a legit review of the offerings and implementations we see. In fact, the Product Strategy team (the team I’m on) gets to vote on the entries! I really enjoy that task. What is also more interesting is the hardware. Odd coming from a software company, but the hardware of the prize. Previous VIA winners have trophies like this! Begin your nomination here!https
One of the things that I will be doing, starting with the v11 release, is preparing a “How to upgrade” Blog and Video situation that I will post here in the Veeam Community site. This will be an exclusive resource you will only get here! Now just to be clear, this post will be straight blocking and tackling, it’s not going to cover what’s new, it’s for the person who has a previous version and is ready to upgrade. Here’s my loose agenda of what I plan on covering:Pre-Steps Key documentation to review Licensing and Product How to get license updated, steps to secure license admin/access How and where to download the product(s) Must-See Information Noting key changes/dropped platforms Known issues Key advice from Veeam Tech Support Common Case Summary thru RTM Note scenarios where “If you are using _X_ existing capability, it will be new this way: See this” Configuration Backup - Verify it is done, where it is, etc. Upgrade and Beyond Information of doing the upgrade (Possibl
Last week was Tech Field Day 22, and Veeam was happy to be back at this key Technical Decision Maker Influencer event. This was a great event and we were happy to be back, as a presenter it was a great thrill! Now that I had the weekend to think about it, I want to share a few reflections on the event exclusively here at the Veeam Community site. Let’s start with a video I made recapping the content of the event:Now, I want to take a moment to explain the Product Strategy team's strategy for Tech Field Day overall. Why does Veeam do Tech Field Day?Straight Answer: We are committed to ensuring technical decision maker awareness in all communities that align to Veeam’s interests.More to the Story: My team loves doing this. We love the thrill of live Q&A, live demo and other aspects that truly embrace the spirit of technical evangelism.Who does Veeam bring to Tech Field Day?Straight Answer: For most situations, Tech Field Day events are delivered by
Give some thoughts to the interval of a report. Current week vs. Past week, here’s a view of how the interval can make a difference for the results. I have the Veeam ONE Catch of the Day (#VeeamONECOTD) on Twitter, a nice way to get small nuggets of Veeam ONE stuff: https://twitter.com/search?q=%23VeeamONECOTD&src=typeahead_click The Veeam reports are incredible visibility and it is a great way to get all the details you may need in another way!
How many times has DNS been the problem? Well, Veeam Explorer for Active Directory’s Compare with Production capability may be a way to help you see if there have been changes in DNS. This is so easy to use, check out this video explaining how this works:You can also watch my Veeam Live session on Application recovery as well (have to register there however)
You may be aware of the Veeam ONE Restore Operator Activity Report, this one is my favorite. I recommend everyone set up this report for regular automatic generation, which is explained here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/reporter/schedule_reports.html?ver=100 See the video below on how to do it!
