Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Licensing on disabled Jobs.

Userlevel 1

Hi,

I created new jobs to organize Exchange groups and Teams groups since my company was previosly configured to backup the whole organization, Now that the backup is set up and backing up for about a month is time to disable the original job, if I disable and delete the job, would that release the previously used licenses for any aditional user that is not on the new jobs ?

Thanks in advance.

Before deleting the old job you should delete licenses manually as per here - https://www.veeam.com/blog/remove-user-license-vbo365.html

Then delete the job.

Hi @dcalcagno

To answer your question:

Yes, this happens automatically. If an object wasn‘t protected for 31 days by any job, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 releases the license and it can be used for new objects to protect.

Manually removing the license earlier than 31 days is also possible, but you need to delete all backups first.

Please note, you still require a license for non-protected users (mailbox, OneDrive) if they have permission to access a protected SharePoint site, Teams or group mailbox.

Best,

Fabian
