Here is this week’s VTT VMCE Practice Question. Slightly later than I’d normally post, but still Wed (here in the States).

For those new to the VMCE page, please hide your comment (guess). To do so → before typing your response, click the ellipsis icon on the far right of the format toolbar at the top in your comment box and select the Spoiler option. This will place a ‘hide comment’ text box in your comment box area. Click inside this hide comment text box and start typing your answer (guess). Be careful to not click outside of the box or your comment will show after saving. We want your comment to not show so others can take full advantage of these practice questions. Let me know if you have issues. Good luck!

An administrator is asked to create a dynamic group of VMs that will be backed up based on a 4-hour RPO from the VMware platform.  How can this be accomplished?

  1. Create a group of VMs in Enterprise Manager based on the RPO requirements
  2. Create an RPO Policy in Enterprise Manager
  3. Create a backup job based on vSphere Tags
  4. Create a CSV file that is scanned for changes before the backup job starts

The answer to this week’s VTT VMCE practice question is below…

Let’s cut to the chase! Options a. and b. are close in what they offer (RPO policy in EM). Well, first, you can’t create VMs in EM, so that rules a. out for sure. There is no ability to create a RPO policy in and of itself outside a Job, so that also rules b. out. This leaves a 50/50 shot of either c. or d. Option d. CSV file could be done but really isn’t dynamic in nature, whereas using Tags in vSphere is, thus making c. Create a backup job based on vSphere Tags , the correct answer.
