Onboarding for Veeam Data Platform - Step 4.3 Additional restore options

Veeam Explorers

Veeam Explorers™ are tools available within Veeam Backup & Replication that allow users to perform granular recovery of specific data within a backup. There are several types of Veeam Explorers, each designed to address specific data recovery needs.

Here are the main types of Veeam Explorers and how they are used:

Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Active Directory

This explorer enables users to recover individual objects from an Active Directory backup. It is useful for recovering data from Active Directory failures or accidental deletions.

Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server

This explorer enables users to recover individual databases, tables and other SQL Server objects from their backups caused by failures or accidental deletions.

Veeam Explorer for Oracle

This explorer is designed to help Oracle database administrators recover their Oracle databases and any related components like tablespaces, schemas and individual objects. This includes tables, stored procedure, and views, all of which can be quickly and easily extracted from Veeam backups.

Veeam Explorer for PostgreSQL

This explorer is specifically designed to help database administrators recover individual objects or entire databases from PostgreSQL backups. With this tool, administrators can easily restore tables, records and other objects from a PostgreSQL backup without having to perform a full database restore.

Veeam Explorers assist the architecture with the following tasks and use cases:

  1. Restore location: provides the capability to recover data to the original location. Where required, the ability to perform restores to a different location is also supported.
  2. Search for content: the Veeam Explorer components include an “Additional Find” capability to perform sophisticated eDiscovery searches by using different criteria based on data and metadata.
  3. Compare with production: scan a restore point to make clear what exactly has changed and filter the data that may need to be recovered or possibly even uncover anomalies.

Overall, Veeam Explorers are powerful tools that help organizations quickly, granularly and securely recover important data in the event of disaster or accidental deletion.

SureBackup

Reliable, verified, and tested backups are the first step to any successful recovery from a cyberattack. Recover your data and be confident that you’ll face negative impact on your production environment by leveraging these capabilities:

  • Staged Restore to help ensure that your recovered VMs do not contain any personal or sensitive data.
  • Secure Restore as an easy way to scan backups for threats before introducing them back into production.

Use SureBackup to validate your backups and automate regular restore testing. This built-in feature allows you to test the validity of your backups by restoring them, testing the restored workloads and powering them down while providing automated reports of your recovery verification results. You can do this in a virtual lab called On-Demand Sandbox™ which is fully fenced off from the production environment and doesn’t need a hands-on operator. A SureBackup job can be run manually or automatically. Want to know more about how SureBackup works? Read here.

To guarantee the recoverability of your data, Veeam Backup & Replication complements SureBackup’s recovery verification technology with SureReplica. With this tool, you can automatically verify that each restore point you create for each VM replica and ensure they’re functioning as expected. This lets you validate your DR environment without impacting your production infrastructure.

Moreover, with Veeam Cloud Connect, built into Veeam Backup & Replication, you can get fully integrated, affordable and efficient DR through a service provider. Find a partner
