Onboarding for Veeam Data Platform - Step 3.4 Restoring from backup

Restoring and testing your backup data is one of the most critically important parts of ensuring you have a solid data protection solution.

Call to action for this module is to review the following restore capabilties and test them out on your test backup server data.

Veeam Backup & Replication offers the following types of recovery:

Each of the above restore options also has multiple different types of restore capabilties, below we’ve provided a link to dive further into these options. Alternatively, you can continue exploring the topic in the User Guide.

Check out these demo videos to discover some of these restore options in more detail:

Instant file-level recovery is a great feature of Veeam Backup & Replication. It allows you to perform restores of files or folders from both VMware, Hyper-V or multiple guest OSs, without having to stage the backup itself.

With Instant VM Recovery, you can immediately restore different workloads as VMs to your production environment by running them directly from the compressed and deduplicated backup files. In this video, we’ll take a look at the process of performing an Instant VM Recovery:

When you do a Full VM Recovery, you extract the VM image from the backup to the production storage. Though Full VM Recovery takes more resources and time to complete than Instant VM Recovery, you do not need to perform extra steps to finalize the recovery process. In this video you will learn about what options you have available for Full VM Recovery and how to initiate it:

You can also use our hands-on labs to perform typical Veeam Backup operator administrative tasks and dive into the real-life usage scenarios.
