I am kind of new to veeam and have been asked to come up with a high level plan to save money over our current configuration…. Hello everyone.I have the following query, in version 12 I see that there is the possibility of adding a proxy in the "General-purpose backup proxy" option, according to the following in the description "(...) and off-host backups of physical server" I would understand that it is possible for a physical server with veeam agent to add a proxy backup.Why the question? I have a Windows Server 2019 server that serves as a file server and when I run the job, either incremental or full, it slows down access to shared files and users complain. That being said, this proxy would help me mitigate or reduce the impact or what good practice do you recommend?The repository is an smb folder inside a Qnap NAS.
We are currently running VBR Comm. Ed. on a Windows server 2019 which is a DC. For security reasons we would like to demote this machine to a simple server.Will this allow VBR ti run as usual after the change?
Hallo zusammen,ich habe folgendes Problem und zwar lässt sich Veeam nicht mehr starten, d.h. wenn ich Veeam öffnen will, so passiert nichts. Auch das Tray Icon, welches zuvor sich immer in der Taskleiste befand ist verschwunden, der Veeam Dienst jedoch läuft noch. Ich habe Veeam komplett mit Revo deinstalliert und wieder frisch installiert, leider mit selbem Ergebnis. In die Tools Backup Job konfiguieren, File Restore, Recovery Media komme ich rein, nur eben nicht in das Hauptprogramm um ein Backup zu starten. Das einzige was mir aufgefallen ist, ist, das wenn ich Veeam öffnen möchte, dass quasi ein “unsichtbares Icon” in der Taskleiste auftaucht, welches aber sofort wieder verschwindet wenn ich mit der Maus darüber fahre. Also Windows möchte Veeam wohl auch starten, jedoch verhindert irgendwas Veeam daran den Start auch auszuführen.GrüßeAndy
We are using community edition to backup two VMs. This setup was done by another user, and now we need to move the VM hosting the backup interface to another host.If I am not wrong, the service is actually running on the underlying host which is Hyperv…. What steps do I have to take to achieve this?I am confused if the community edition runs at hyperv level or not. Useful to know in case hosts are terminated
Thanks to the community I was able to install the kasten in Air Grap, after some difficulties the application could be deployed, I tried to do a backup run job but it gives me an error when starting, I lack knowledge in this console and I would like to know if there is more specific documentation, any backup step by step.
Have an old ESXi 5.5.0 update 2 ver 5.77.3 host. Downgraded Veeam from ver 12 to 11, with the understanding that ver 11 supported ESXi 5.5. VeeamZip starts and quickly errors out with “Current VSphere license or ESXi version prohibits.” any thoughts?Thanks.
Guys, i have connected veeam with apache cloudstack as backup service. But when i take backup in cloudstack it’s not saved vm in backup repository. I’m using veeam 12 and cloudstack version is 4.16. Is there any proprietary distribution that should be used to create an immutable volume? I would like to use the CENTOS distribution, is it possible to use it or is it not compatible, what do you recommend?

Good day.I have an Openshift installation, in which I have the Local Stotrage and OpenShift Data Foundation operators, I want to backup in Ceph (RBD), in the documentation (https://docs.kasten.io/latest/install/storage.html#ceph ) requests the values of Monitor, Pool, User and Keyring, but checking the ODF data I don't have them, someone has had experience with these plugins and how they have to be configured to be able to use them.
Hello everyone,I faced a weird issue, I am not sure it’s normal or not, however it wasn’t like that before. The issue is when adding Proxy or Repo by clicking “Add New” it doesn’t work and show errors in the installation, however when add the machine in advance from adding servers, then add it as Proxy or Repo from the existing servers, it works. Please advise.

Hi, I am trying to create a backup to tape job. The source is a repository. The repository is a catalyst store (StoreOnce 3640). Although there are backup files on the catalyst store generated by an RMAN plugin job, The job is unable to read any full or incremental backup files and the job completes but doesn’t process anything. I can browse the store on the devices management interface and see the backup files. But it is not being detected on Veeam side. I’m using Veeam version 12. I’ve attached a screenshot. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,I have 2 locations with a Veeam server and a vCenter cluster with 2 hosts.The configuration is on both servers identical.One one location, when running a job with application awareness, the inventorying guest system and the other preparing jobs are taking several seconds, but on the other location, it takes minutes.It does not fail, but the time of processing is much longer.The difference I see, on the ‘slow’ location, all communications running via vCenter. On the fast one, all is going direct from B&R server to the VM.Firewall rules are identical and I don’t see any blocks, so the slow one does not try to direct connect to the VM.Any ideas where to look for?The B&R server is in a seperated VLAN with explicit firewall rules between them, conform the manuals. Hello, Wondering if anyone knows how to get around this, Iv moved the veeam software to another host and done a clean setup trying to do the first backup of OneDrive it just keeps timing out. The console gives the error “failed to process all objects”. Is there a setting or timeout limit I need to be adjusting somewhere? It seems to run for different amounts of time before timing out which is throwing me off. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks in advance.

I think I’ve missed something, but we have a requirement to retain backups certain machine for 7 years even after the machines have been decommissioned…How are you supposed to do that with Veeam?I can see that you can export certain backups, but so does that mean that I need to export a backup from each year to other storage?
I by mistake delete kube-dns and it cause serious issue to my k10 and I was not able to access my dashboard. Now after fixing this I am able to access dashboard but crypto-svc is not working and showing error Readiness probe failed: HTTP probe failed with statuscode: 500Before fixing DNS issue I once delete Kasten deployment as well so I think this is crypto key issue. I’m trying to delete some user to data to free up licences and it seems to be taking forever to complete. I’m testing with a user who only has a few 100 emails but the command seems to have hung up. I want open the multi-cluster page WEBUI but not open multi-cluster page, only open Primary K10 Web UI A case was conducted in this regard, and the case answer was instead of https:///K10/#/ It asks to enter https:///k10/# Even if you proceed according to the result of the case, it seems that you are redirected to the primary webui unconditionally after token authentication.
